Shimmy Launches Workout Advent Calendar for iPhone for a Wellness Holiday Season

Baby2Baby Ambassador Jessica Alba and NBA All-Star Chris Paul share support for new philanthropic fitness app

SAN FRANCISCO , December 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Shimmya 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to get America moving this holiday season, is releasing a free iPhone app designed as an advent calendar.

While most see January as the time to develop new health habits, Shimmy sparks a movement to get people working out in December, when Americans exercise less than any other month. The holidays – while joyous – come with stressful family gatherings, seasonal affective disorder and a 37% increase in heart attacks on Christmas Eve.

Departure 1st December, Shimmy is launching a free 25-day challenge that will motivate Americans to move their bodies every day until Christmas. Shimmy features a diverse group of trainers who lead videos ranging from Bollywood cardio to boxing and yoga. By encouraging seven minutes of movement a day, Shimmy aims to promote mental and physical well-being, as well as a sense of unity and community during the busy holiday season. With giving back to his base, Shimmy donates $25 to charity on behalf of each person who completes the full workout schedule.

Today, two remarkable mission-driven organizations will share their support for the philanthropic challenge. Baby2Baby Ambassador Jessica Alba helps launch the challenge in support of Baby2Baby, a national non-profit organization that provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothes and all the necessities every child deserves. NBA All Star Chris Paul also brings its fans to join the challenge in favor of the Chris Paul Family Foundationwhich strives to have a positive impact on individuals and communities by leveling the playing field in education, sports and life.

“As a mother of two young children, I need help finding time to move my body every day,” said Kaitlyn Kriegerco-founder and executive director of Shimmy. “We hope Shimmy will help all kinds of people develop a daily movement habit and connect with their loved ones while they’re at it. That’s why we’ve built in fun sharing features, like a GIF maker and an emoji calendar. What better way to celebrate the holidays than to motivate your friends and family to be healthy?”

Krieger recruited Co-founder Nina Samarguliani, who most recently led product design at Tonal, for his fitness expertise. “At Shimmy, we care about providing fun and engaging workout experiences that give people a boost of energy in a short time,” says Nina.

“I am so excited to be part of this inspiring project,” said Marnie AltonShimmy Trainer and CEO and Founder of M/BODY. “To me, Shimmy offers the perfect combination of two amazing things: fitness and community. Committing to just seven minutes of movement a day with Shimmy offers a flexible and joyful way to ensure your well-being is in the foreground during the busiest times of the year.
