Google launched its The Black Friday deals are early, but the price drops are still going strong. Pixel phones, Pixel Buds wireless headphones, and the smart home gadgets we love are getting deep discounts, even devices that launched just a month ago.
Update November 24, 2022: We’ve added Nest Mini and Nest Audio.
We test products throughout the year and select these offers. Products that are sold out or no longer on promotion at the time of publication will be crossed out. We’ll be updating this guide throughout the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.
Deals on Pixel phones
Google’s newest flagship phone, the Pixel 7 (8/10, WIRED Recommends), has barely been out for a month, but it’s already on sale. It’s impressive because one of the biggest things we love about it is the low price in the first place. At $600, it’s the best value you’ll find in the Android world. But now the Pixel 7 is $100 off. You get fast performance, a 90Hz display, wireless charging, all-day battery life, one of the best smartphone cameras, and plenty of useful smart features you’ll all use. days (which you can read more about here).
There’s also the Pixel 7 Pro (8/10, WIRED Recommends), which adds a few advantages over the standard Pixel 7, namely a 120Hz screen refresh rate, a really 5X optical zoom camera fantastic, a Macro mode to take pictures up close. shots and slightly longer battery life. That’s without mentioning the larger 6.7-inch screen, which is better for anyone who prefers more screen. These Pixels also come with five years of security updates, which are some of the best you’ll find on Android, although the three-year OS update policy isn’t quite as good as offered. by Samsung.
If you don’t want to spend that much on a smartphone, get the Pixel 6A (8/10, WIRED Recommends), which is our favorite smartphone for most people. This more budget-conscious handset still produces some of the best photos for the price, and you get a bright AMOLED display, all-day battery life, speedy performance and five years of security updates. (Plus lots of smart software features that Pixels are known for.) You sacrifice a few bells and whistles like wireless charging or a higher screen refresh rate, but for the price, it’s a steal.
Pixel Accessory Deals
The Pixel Buds A-Series (8/10, WIRED recommends) work just as well as Apple’s standard AirPods (if not better), and they’re much cheaper to start, especially now. They work best with Android phones, as they’ll pair instantly and have easy access to Google Assistant (though they do work with iPhones with some limitations). You get crystal clear sound, sweat resistance, and touch buttons on the earcups for music control. The five-hour battery life isn’t great, but that’s easier to stomach at this price. You can only charge them via USB-C.
Step things up with the Pixel Buds Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends), which are super comfortable wireless headphones to wear, sound even better (especially the bass), and sit in a case that supports wireless charging. Battery life is a bit longer here – seven hours – and the active noise cancellation does a decent job of silencing the outside world. There’s also a solid transparent mode to let ambient sounds in so you’re more aware of your surroundings.
Google’s very first Pixel Watch is missing some key features at launch, like SpO2 detection, automatic workout detection and fall detection (coming soon), but it’s a wonderful smartwatch that’s really comfortable and accurate for tracking the basics of health and fitness – heart rate tracking and electrocardiograms. Its responsive interface lets you track notifications and respond to messages, even phone calls. Unfortunately, the battery life is lackluster and it charges slowly, so it will constantly be on your mind. It only works with Android phones.
Do you have a Pixel phone? Hook up this wireless charger, which is designed to quickly charge Pixels without having to plug in a cable. It’s expensive, but it also has other cool tricks. It can automatically enable Do Not Disturb and Bedtime modes on Pixel phones, which will disable notifications. You can turn your screen into a digital photo frame or display smart home controls, just like a smart display, and when the sun comes up, it will try to imitate sunlight to gently wake you up before the alarm does not trigger.
Smart home deals
The Nest Cam (battery) is one of our top picks for outdoor security cameras, especially if you want to stick with the Google Assistant ecosystem. It has a simple magnetic mounting plate and its battery will last just over a month before needing a recharge. 1080p quality is quite good, even when night vision starts in low light. A Nest Aware subscription isn’t necessary, but it does add some useful features. There’s a version with a projector for $190 ($90 off), and the wired version of this Nest Cam (for indoors) is also on sale for $70 ($30 off).
The latest generation Nest Thermostat can control your central heating and air conditioning, and it learns your habits over time to intelligently adjust the temperature as you need it. In some cases, this can help reduce energy costs by turning off your systems when you’re not home while bringing your home back to a comfortable temperature before you return.
The Chromecast with Google TV (8/10, WIRED Recommends) finally brought the Chromecast in line with other streaming sticks that have a physical remote and full TV interface. It’s one of the easiest streaming sticks to use (well, the dongle really) and I especially like that you can add movies or TV shows to your watchlist from the results of Google search and they appear in the Chromecast interface. Google’s new HD version, suitable for TVs with 1080p resolution, is also on sale for $20 ($10 off).
The Nest Hub (7/10, WIRED recommends) makes an ideal centerpiece for a smart home. It can show calendar events and reminders, show video from smart doorbells, and even control other smart devices. You can do all of this by tapping the screen or by asking Google Assistant to do it for you. The wizard is also great at answering random questions you might have, like how much whiskey you should use for a sour whiskey. There’s no camera, so it’s fine for more private spaces like bedrooms.
The Nest Hub Max (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has a camera, so you can use it for video calls on Google Meet and Zoom, among other platforms. The larger screen size makes it ideal for the kitchen, where you can use it to follow recipes.
The trend of smart speakers dropping prices over the holidays continues. Google’s 2nd-gen Nest Mini (7/10, WIRED recommends) is one of the easiest ways to get started with a smart home. You can use it to set timers, listen to music, and control other smart gadgets like your lights. They’re well over half right now, making it almost impulsive territory to buy a few for every room in your home.
The cheapest smart speakers are generally good at quick voice commands, but if you really want to enjoy your music, you can upgrade to something like this Nest Google Audio speaker (8/10, WIRED recommends). It sounds better than the Nest Mini, and at this price it’s not much more expensive than one either.
